A little about myself.
I was born and raised in Mexico City; I’m the 2nd of a total of 4 siblings in my family (3 brothers, 1 sister).
From a very young age my father noticed that I had a special talent for drawing, so he instilled the love of fine arts in me.
I was introduced to the works of El Greco, Goya and Velasquez; Michelangelo, Botticelli and Raphael. He took me to several museums with him and fell in love with how painting evolved throughout history and morphed into different styles and philosophies.
My father was a doctor, so at the age of 10 he asked me to replicate “The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp” from Rembrandt.
I did the best I could, and of course, it was definitely not a very good replica, but my dad kept it in his office until he retired. So yes, I knew that early that my life was going to be involved in the visual arts.
Right after High School in Mexico my father offered me to come to college in the U.S. so I took on his offer and moved to Texas to pursuit my BFA at the University of Texas at El Paso.
As an immigrant I consider myself as a good example of the famous “American Dream”, where your effort, consistency and hard work can help you reach anything you want. So, From my first job at Whataburger 1990 while in college until now, I’ve been able to achieve all of my goals.
this is one of the reasons why I fell in love with this country, so in 1995 I decided to make it official and became a U.S. citizen.
I’ve called Houston home for about 25 years now. I love this city for the incredible diversity of cultures from all over the world, phenomenal museums, entertainment, sports and first class restaurants. So what is not to love about Houston?
I am married to the love of my life, Martha since 2017 in what I consider a second chance life gave me at true happiness. We have 2 crazy little dogs, Paco and Bentley, and they keep us on our toes all the time.
Martha and I have kids from previous marriages: Luis and Drew. Both our kids are in the military and we couldn’t be prouder parents.
Luis, my son is 31 years old and proudly serves our country in the Air Force. He has traveled the world and is currently stationed in Okinawa, Japan with his wife Hailey and their little doggy, Reina.
Drew is 28; he is a former Marine and currently is enlisted in the Navy. He is a responsible, reliable guy and makes us very proud as well.
We love to travel, and try to do it as much as we can. We enjoy places where there’s beautiful architecture and history, as well as good food which we’re always ready to try.
